How do you catch a squirrel?

This is a pattern for a felted, knitted acorn.

I was inspired by the many beautiful acorns on ravelry.com, but especially Little Acorn Project Bag http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib rary/little-acorn-project-bag. Alas, I don't crochet, so I wrote this pattern for my own purposes.
Needles: Double Pointed size 8
Yarn: Patons Classic Wool in Natural and Brown
Cap:
CO 75
Rows 1-36 k
Row 37 k2tog, k1, repeat to end of row
Row 38 k
Repeat Rows 37 and 38 until there are only 15 st left
Rows 39 on, k in the round for 2 inches (to make the stem)
thread tail through the 15 and felt
Bottom:
CO 70
Rows 1-48 k Row 49 k10 pm repeat to end of row
Row 50 k2tog, k to marker repeat to end of row
Row 51-52 k
Repeat rows 50-52 until there are 14 st
thread tail through the 14 and felt
